Karen Dell Anderson, 82, of Parkersburg, WV, went to be with Jesus on April 6th, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, one brother, first loving husband Jim Lee Anderson and daughter Amy Karen Masten, and will be lovingly remembered by her second loving husband Harry Ernest Albaugh and family, daughters Leigh Ann Knierim (of Greenwood, SC) and Elizabeth Ellen May (of Greenville, NC), granddaughters Rachael Victoria Knierim, Lauren Michelle Knierim, and Natalie Olivia May, her church family, garden club, friends and family, and by all who knew her.
Born on Oct 2, 1943 in Huntington WV to Nellie Young and Charles G. Jones, she was the youngest of 4 children. She attended Point Pleasant High School and Marshall University where she graduated in nursing. She had a fulfilling career as a nurse, and her career highlights included working at Cabell County Hospital in Huntington, Corning in Parkersburg, and St Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg where she worked for 16 years and retired from in 1998.
Karen loved singing and music, playing piano, and remarked that she would have loved to have been a backup singer in the 50s and 60s. She was a wonderful ballroom dancer and was a member of the Marietta Parkersburg Ballroom Dance Club. She was a master gardener, and loved all plants and flowers and could make anything grow. She also enjoyed motorcycle riding. She was a phenomenal cook and interior decorator. She had the ability to transform ordinary everyday things into things of beauty, and this aspect of her life is seen in her home and gardens and in the way she loved and nurtured her family and friends. She was an officer of the North Hills Garden Club and faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother Above all, she loved God and she loved Jesus and her faith was a vital part of her life. Her family wishes they could truly put into words all the facets of her, and all the beautiful things she embodied.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital for their exceptional compassionate care and comfort.
A celebration of life service will be held on April 9th at 2pm time at Grace Baptist Church, immediately followed by a brief graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church from 1-2pm prior to the celebration of life service at the church. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
