James Lee Copeland, “Jim”, 76, Macfarlan, WV, departed this life April 27, 2026, with family by his side at Eagle Pointe Healthcare Center, Parkersburg, WV

Jim was born April 24,1950, to the late William and Dovie (Cox) Copeland, Logan, WV. Jim was a proud Harrisville High School graduate of the Class of 1969, recently receiving the Golden Gator Pin. He was drafted when he was 19 and spent his “senior trip” overseas in 1970-71 where he became a decorated Army Veteran, humbly earning Vietnam Service Medals with two Bronze Service Stars with oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and distinction as a sharpshooter (rifle). He had a mischievous spirit, and enjoyed watching westerns, listening to classic country music, time with family, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his 5 children; James (Jimmy) Copeland II (Jackie), Creston, WV; Sheldon (Jennifer) Copeland, Macfarlan, WV; Jami (Victor) Casenelli, Newark, WV; John Copeland, Macfarlan, WV, Daniel Copeland (Phillip) Hurricane, WV; 3 siblings; Junior Copeland, Pennsboro, WV; Bobby (special sister in law, Penny) Copeland Ellenboro, WV; Mary Lou Adams, Crosby, TX; 8 grandchildren; Alexis, Rylee, Kaylee, Samantha, Lia, Elaine, Jaxen, and a very special granddaughter, “Jenna Babe” who never left his side; 2 great grandchildren: Ainsley and Roman; and extended family in Logan, WV.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice, and his nurses, Gabby Cunningham and Nurse Mary for their amazing care.

Service provided by McCullough-Raiguel Funeral Home and Crematory Services, Harrisville, WV. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, from 2pm to 6pm, with services at 6pm at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. His wishes were to be cremated, and the family will hold a private Celebration of Life later.
