Drake
Hilton Hudson Drake, 95, of Belpre Ohio passed away peacefully and went home to be with Jesus on April 2, 2026. He was born September 13, 1930, in Portland, Maine, and after high school he joined the United States Navy where he served as a Radio Operator on an ice breaker in the frozen north. Upon completion of his service to his country, he worked for many years with the State of Maine Department of Labor. After retirement from the State of Maine, he moved to Florida where he met his wife, Judy. In 2005, they settled in Belpre, Ohio where he immediately continued his life of dedicated service to his community. He was a faithful member of Porterfield Baptist Church where he worshiped, attended Sunday School, and served as a Stephen Minister. He also spent much of his free time volunteering to help others through the Memorial Health System. On many Thursday mornings, you could find him cooking breakfast at the Belpre Masonic Lodge for various area events, including Belpre’s infamous annual Homecoming celebrations. He held dual memberships in the Masonic Lodge where he served for over 70 total years, including The Bethlehem Masonic Lodge in Augusta, Maine and Belpre Lodge 609. When not volunteering his free time to help others, Hilton loved to play or watch golf, and you could frequently find him on the links at Ox Bow Golf Course.
Hilton is survived by his second wife of 25 years, Judy Drake, with whom he had a beautiful marriage, a stepdaughter LeeAnn Johnson (Bill) and grandson Nathan whom he loved and enjoyed ever so much, and two stepsons, Robert Sprouse and Timothy Sprouse (Sue).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy, and they are survived by daughter Kathy Drake, Michael Drake (Julie), Bill Drake (Sandy) and Sue Redlevske (Oscar), along with five grandsons, three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, April 10, beginning at 10:00 am at Porterfield Baptist Church at 39 Hollywood Drive, Little Hocking, 45742. A memorial service will follow at the church.
The family wishes to thank Shriver’s Hospice for their exceptional loving care and comfort during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriver’s Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 343, Zanesville, OH 43702.
Hilton’s request was to be inurned with his great-grandfather, Micajah Hudson at the Drake Family Plot in Guilford, Maine.
