Delbert “Deb” E Taylor

Delbert “Deb” E. Taylor, 90, of St. Marys, WV, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at his home. Born in Pleasants County, WV, on January 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Lee Henry Taylor and Mary Steele. Delbert was married to the love of his life, the late Alta Mae Taylor, for 67 years.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Delbert owned and operated Taylor’s Hardwood Company for more than 50 years. He took great pride in his craft, was known for his exceptional knowledge of the timber trade, and found true joy in the business he devoted his life to building. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Delbert was a longtime member of Willow Island Baptist Church. The biggest joy in Delbert’s life was his loving family.

He is survived by his five sons: Delbert Michael (Delores) Taylor, Clifford Eugene (Julie) Taylor, Matthew Arnold (Dawna) Taylor, Vernon Wayne Taylor, and Stephen Guy (Lori) Taylor; eight grandchildren: Lee (Shawna) Taylor, Hannah (Luke) Harper, Cody Baker, Sarah (TJ) Nichols, Rachel (Adam) Koontz, Brittney (Chad) Murphy, Morgan (Caleb) Woodburn, and Luke Taylor; and fourteen great grandchildren: Kinslee, Piper, Cohen, Hadley, Grady, Griffey, Marybeth, Larry, Navella, DJ, Raylan, Jayce, Cullen, and Stetson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife Alta Mae, Delbert was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Delberta Mae Taylor, and eight siblings: Luella Wise, Navella Taylor, Mary Lea Greathouse, Franklin Taylor, Harold Taylor, Ernestine Schrebe, Arthur Taylor, and Donald Dean Taylor.

A service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Ingram Funeral Home, with Pastor Jimmy Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery on Kings Ridge, with Pastor Richard Cale officiating. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
