Betty Ruth Freshour

Betty Ruth Freshour, 99, of St. Marys, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 8, 1926, at Cave Run, Pleasants County, WV., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Dempsey Coss and Sarah Iva Lamp Coss.

Betty was married to her late husband Paul Bernard Freshour for 50 years. She worked for Public Debt for many years before she retired in 1988. She volunteered at the Pleasants County Senior Citizens Center, enjoyed quilting, was active in the AMVETS Post 40 Ladies Auxiliary, and had been a member of TOPS WV 409 “Take Off Pounds Sensibly” since 1997. She also attended Calcutta United Methodist Church. Her biggest joy was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Linda Brothers (Ron) of St. Marys, WV; one son, Gary W. (Nettie) Freshour Jr., of Morgantown, WV; four grandchildren, Carrie Roberts of Friendly, WV, Douglas Brothers, St. Marys, WV, Ryleigh B. Freshour and Brayden Freshour of Morgantown, WV; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Kenneth, Tia, James, and Katie; and several great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Paul, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Freshour Sr.; and two sisters, Virginia Wilson Boley, and Emogene Giboney.

The family would like to thank Journey Hospice for their care and compassion.

A funeral service will be held at Ingram Funeral Home Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Mark Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Maple Lane Cemetery. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
