John Anthony Ferruso III
John Anthony Ferruso III passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026. He was 48. Tony was preceded in death by his father, John Anthony Ferruso, Jr., cousin Michael Ferruso, and grandparents John Ferruso, Sr., Mary Ferruso (nee Silvester), Julien Wiseman, and Eva Lillian Wiseman (nee Norman). He is survived by the love of his life, Kristin Sanchez, and her daughter Sydnei, mother Diane Fulks and her husband Judd (and his children Lenee Hartleben and Justin Fulks (Tosh), sister Julie Capello and her husband Michael, sister Jenny Ferruso, brother Nick Ferruso and his wife Anna, Uncle Rod and Aunt Joann Ferruso, cousin Mary Jo Ferruso Strimer and her husband Corey, Uncle Melvin and Aunt Pat Wiseman and their family, and nieces and nephews Anabel, Vincent, Benito, Felix and Remy.
Raised in Vienna, WV, Tony graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1995. He attended West Virginia University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, graduating in 2001. His career as a medical technologist took him to St. Petersburg, FL, Garner, NC, and finally to LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, TN.
Tony loved to travel the US, exploring the outdoors and photographing nature. His favorite excursions were always kayaking Shell Key in Fort DeSoto, FL, and spending time at the family homestead in Vadis, WV. He enjoyed all things sports, but especially his beloved Mountaineers. He also loved his niece and nephews and was always the one on the floor with them playing and making them laugh.
Tony had many hobbies: genealogy, coin and card collecting, and woodworking to name a few, but nothing came close to the way he celebrated holidays. His Halloween costumes may have been epic, but his Christmas cookies were even better.
A funeral service for Tony will be held Saturday, March 21st at 11 AM, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Visitation will be held Friday, the 20th from 4-6pm, and again an hour before the service on Saturday.
