Jo Ann Smith

Jo Ann Smith, 81, of Vienna, WV, went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2026.

She was born on August 27, 1944, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the Late Ishmael Paul Smith and Mabel Naomi (Holland) Smith.

Jo Ann was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she served in several capacities, including choir. Jo Ann retired from Public Debt after 30 years of service, during which she served as manager of the bond consultant department.

Jo Ann dearly loved her cats, and she had a kitty sitting business.

She is survived by her sister, Sharon L. Shears of Vienna, WV, two nieces, Kimberly Shears of Vienna, WV, and Kathy Shears of Vienna, WV, three great-nieces, Jordan C Tonkin, Melody Foster, and Alyssa Bobo, three great-nephews, AJ Foster, Levi Bobo, and Ethan Foster, and one great-great-nephew, Hayden Shears.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by two nieces, Kelly Shears and Kerry Shears Bobo, and brother-in-law, Frederick Shears.

Cremation services are entrusted to the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
