James Irvin Blair

James Irvin Blair, 86, of Big Bend, WV, passed away at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center following an extended illness. He was the son of Linsa and Lula (Cottrell) Blair. He was born in Calhoun County near Indian Creek.

Jim attended Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Big Bend and was a member. Jim was a proud dad to his only son and was also a wonderful grandfather who dearly loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Marie; his son Tim Blair and his wife Charlotte; three grandsons, Josh (Michelle), Jeff Blair (Britiney), and Jared (Amanda) Blair.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Joel (Alyssa), Kylee, Chase, and Lilly Blair; Levi, Ian, Landon, Josie, and Michael Richards: Bry and Colin Jones; and his great-great-grandchildren, Grayson, Elijah, and Maicy Blair.

Jim also treasured his little dog, Sam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, Betty Jo (Blair) Parks.

Graveside services were held at Big Bend Cemetery off Rt. 5 in Big Bend, March 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Mike Doherty officiating.

Matheny-Whited Funeral Home and John H. Taylor Funeral Home are assisting the Blair family.
