Elizabeth Anne Knapp

Elizabeth Anne Knapp, 73, of Parkersburg, passed away March 14, 2026, at her mother’s residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1952, in Waynesburg, PA, a daughter to Anna Bee Kormendi of Parkersburg and the late Mike Kormendi.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School in PA. She attended Marshall University and was a graduate of WVU Morgantown. She retired after 40 years as a teacher at Van Devender and Parkersburg High School where she taught Ph.Ed., health, and health terminology classes. She taught the R.A.Z.E. program in High School and she was very civic minded. After retirement she was a substitute teacher for the Wood County B.O.E.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, James Knapp; one son, Brian Mark Miller (Jill) of Mooresville, NC; one brother, John Joseph Kormendi (Susan) of Jacksonville, FL; and one grandson, Jackson Noah Miller.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one brother, David Michael Kormendi.

Per her final request, there will be no public visitation or services.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, the Belpre Cancer Center, Marietta Memorial and Selby Hospitals, WVU Camden Clark and Morgantown hospitals for all their love and care given to Elizabeth. The family also wishes to thank Jeanie Pennybacker, her loving neighbor, and Peggy Webster and Margaret Osburn, her close friends and supporters.

Through all of this, Elizabeth’s friends and family have always been by her side.
