Sandra Ayres

Sandra Ayres, 84, of Waverly, WV died Tuesday February 3, 2026 at her home. She was born in Parkersburg, WV a daughter of the late Edward and Georgia (Johnson) Peck.

She was an LPN and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for almost eighteen years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, country drives, and being outdoors. She enjoyed music and liked to play the piano and guitar as well as sing.

She is survived by her husband of almost fifty-four years James Ayres; four children Joanna McCormick (Patrick) of Parkersburg, Edward Summers (Kelly) of Vienna, Tony Summer of Elizabeth, and Kristina Smith (Thomas) of Wrightsville, PA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three siblings Erwain Peck (Carolyn), Linda Ferrell (Lee), and Ron “Gene” Peck (Harriett).

Services will be Saturday 2:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5-8 PM.
