Karen R. Morrell

Karen was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on February 13, 1938, to her loving parents, Clare and Twila Wade. Karen attended Parkersburg High School where she participated in the Dramatics and Glee Clubs. Karen studied nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital and left the nursing program to marry the love of her life, Glen Morrell. Glen was a soldier in the US Army, they married and moved all over the world. Karen loved supporting Glen and enjoyed traveling. She also was a consistent volunteer and supported the Army’s wives clubs. From 1968 to 1987 she volunteered with the Army Community Service to help families, and she used her nursing training to volunteer with the American Red Cross at monthly blood drives, and helped at maternity wards. When they lived in Washington, D.C. from 1983 to 1987, Glen served as the Sergeant Major of the Army, and she volunteered at Arlington National Cemetery as an Arlington lady where she attended funerals, especially for those who had no family. Karen and Glen retired to Florida in 1987 and Karen returned to Nursing School at Brevard Community College, and completed an Associates degree and became a Registered Nurse: she enjoyed working in Nursing Homes helping the residents. Throughout Karen’s life, she was greatly loved, always had a smile on her face and she will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret JoAnn, her parents, her husband and grandchildren Jay and Lauren Morrell. She is survived by her 3 children, Glen Morrell II, Dawn Morrell, Angela Morrell, her sister Linda Moncrief and brother Dale Wade, and beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
