John Ross Lamp, 73, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13, 2026, after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer Dementia. He faced it with great courage and his sense of humor would still shine through at times until a week before his death.
He was a member of 36th St. Church of Christ, Vienna. He died at home with Nancy and Dustin by his side.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart Nancy Monroe Lamp who he married in 1974, one son, Dustin C. Lamp of Parkersburg, three grandsons, Bradley Scott Lamp of Marietta, Austin Nathaniel Kupfner and Dylan Michael Kupfer both of Parkersburg, two sisters, Patricia Hill (Bob) of Williamstown and Karen Hoover (Ray) of Parkersburg. Also, three brothers, David Lamp (Mary), Mark Lamp (Terri) and Scott Lamp (Sherri) all of Parkersburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard E. Lamp and Wilma Clegg Lamp of Parkersburg, two sisters, Doris Twyman of Belpre and Judith Dunn (Jim) of Whipple, OH.
There will be no formal service as John requested MOV Crematory will carry out his wishes. A celebration of life covered dish gathering of friends and family will be Feb 28th from 12-2, with Pastor Doug Kashover speaking. John was cared for by Amedisys Hospice of Vienna.
