Howard Stanley Johnson

Howard Stanley Johnson, 93, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away January 30, 2026, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born July 3, 1932, a son of the late Sydney Gordon Johnson and Frieda Marie Hoyt Johnson.

Howard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, including time overseas during the Korean War. He was a man of faith and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He and Esther were involved in several gospel quartets and the GMR choir. He enjoyed spending time with his family and took pride in working the land- putting up hay, farming, and doing mechanical work on the farm- always finding satisfaction in a hard day’s work. He loved fishing and hunting, cherished the freedom of trail riding on motorcycles, and appreciated things that made life full. Above all, Howard shared a special bond with his dog, Maddox, who was his constant companion and best friend. He will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, and the life he lived.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his son, Arron (Erika) Johnson; daughters, Olga (Phil) Thomas, Leslie Johnson; family friend, Karen Gerow; grandchildren, Amy (Will), Andy, Anne, Lindsie (Isaiah), Lanie, Ashley (Bobby), David (Jamie), Meagan (Brandon), Mitchell (Kenzie) and many great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; second wife, Jean; son, Loren, and one brother and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1 PM, to honor and celebrate Howard’s life.
