William L. Malster

William L. Malster

William L. Malster, a man of integrity, unending kindness, and quiet bravery, passed away in his sleep at home in Belpre, Ohio, on January 6, 2026. Bill, born in Beverly, Ohio, the son of Mildred Lovett Malster and Daine Malster, grew up thriving by working on his family’s tomato farm and playing multiple sports competitively with his older brother, Donald, by his side. He brought boyish charm, selflessness, and dedication not only to his family but to every role he took on in his lifetime. Bill attended Marietta College, served in the U.S. Army, and retired as Executive Vice President for People’s Bank. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, Jaycees, Shrine Club, Belpre Foundation Board, and the Chamber of Commerce, among many other affiliations. In his downtime, Bill enjoyed golfing and dancing, particularly polka and rhumba. After retirement, Bill and Sue traveled and bicycled across the United States, his sweet tooth often leading the way. His life is proof that one person can spark a fire of infinite good. Bill had ways of improving every day just by being a part of it. He was worthy of your trust and respect, a reputation that Bill earned and maintained for his entire lifetime.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65+ years, Sue; his three children, Jon and Lisa Malster of Belpre, and Lynda (Eric Wesolek) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Sarah Malster of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Rudy Wesolek (Kristi) of Worthington, Ohio; and great-grandchildren William and Olivia. He is also missed by numerous extended family, neighbors, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, 801 Victor Street, Belpre, Ohio, with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, West Virginia, would be appreciated in keeping with his love of animals.
