Vincent ‘Vince’ Dennison, 88, of Marietta, Ohio, departed this life January 5, with his daughter Marchaela Ann Shepard by his side. The past 6 months were spent at the Amherst Meadows Nursing & Rehab, Massillon, Ohio where he could be close to where his daughter lives.

He was cremated with Paquelet Funeral Home providing services. An open-to-the-public Celebration of Vincent’s life with family and friends will be held at the North Parkersburg Baptist Church Saturday, January 31st with Pastor Tim Cinnamon from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to North Parkersburg Baptist Church.

Vincent was born on July 31, 1937 in Parkersburg, a son of John Hugh Dennison and Nina May Vincent. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Vincent Dennison, 3 brothers; Charles Edward Dennison, Leroy Dennison, Sr., David Donald Dennison, and a sister Bertha Jane Dennison-Gibson and lifelong best friend Sam Pugh.

He is survived by his daughter Marchaela Shepard (Gilbert), daughter-in-law Cheryl Dierkes-Dennison, 3 grandchildren; Angel Sprouse (Tim), Gilbert “Buddy” Shepard (Leigh Ann) and Katelynne Shepard; and 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews; a devoted best friend Regina Lott, who he loved as a father figure. Nephew Leroy Dennison, Jr (Charlita) were loving caretakers along with Elizabeth Fordyce, wife of 35 years, and the ladies at Norwood Greene Apartment, who always saw that Vince received a plate from their many dinners.

Vincent and Elizabeth Ann Fordyce were married 8-3-1957 at the Beechwood Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed 35 years of traveling, investing in real estate in the Parkersburg area and Vero Beach, Florida.

Traveling included the USA, a trip through London to Switzerland and cross country for 6 weeks with 2 grandchildren. In the early 1970s they built The Meadows Mobile Home Park on Rt 2 North. Cherished friends who moved in early and remain are Patty, Kathy and Don & Kim.

In his younger days, Vince enjoyed hunting & fishing, and collecting guns and knives, often sharing his latest finds and trades with his son Greg. The two also bonded over their shared enthusiasm for the Miami Dolphins and were especially thrilled to attend the induction of Dolphin Quarterback Dan Marino into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Weekends were reserved for watching NASCAR races, where Vince could be found cheering on his favorite drivers. He also enjoyed daily visits to JRs Donut Castle, where he spent time over coffee with his many friends, his “home away from home”.

Vincent had a strong work ethic and was one of the first computer operators at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (formerly the Bureau of Public Debt) and Borg Warner Company. He loved his family and many friends. He enjoyed story telling and entertaining his young grandchildren. While he will be missed by family and friends, great comfort is in knowing all will be together again.
