Rachel Ellen Platt

RACHEL ELLEN PLATT, 50, of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at home.

She was born August 21, 1975 in Charleston, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Margaret Ellen Bates Platt. She was a former EMT with the Roane County Emergency Squad.

Rachel is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Katherine “Kate” and Greg Short of Peniel, West Virginia; her aunt, Anna Flint of Spencer, West Virginia; and five beloved cousins.

In addition to her mother, Rachel was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Pearl Bates; her aunt, Mary Lynn Perrin; and her uncles, Earl “Steve” Bates, Richard “Dick” Perrin and Robert “Tex” Flint.

A celebration of life will be held at the Good Hope Church in Reedy at a later date with burial in the Good Hope Cemetery.
