Maridor Keck

Maridor Keck

Maridor Keck, 90, of Parkersburg, WV, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away Thursday January 8, 2026, at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born in Madison, WV, a daughter of the late Cyril and Mazie (Bell) Miller.

She graduated from Scott High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Alderson Broaddus College. She taught most of her life in Wood County, primarily at Criss Elementary School and Blennerhassett Elementary, and made it her mission to instill a love of reading in all of her students.

She loved her family and the old home-place on Turtle Creek in Boone County. She was the rock around which we all rallied. She was the primary caregiver during her mother’s last two years of life and lovingly cared for her second husband John Keck through his long and difficult struggle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

She loved the Lord and Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a tireless worker and served in many positions of leadership over the course of her life. She was often the first person to welcome visitors to the church, and before health issues began to dominate her life in 2019, she was always there for church members and friends, with a card, with her kindness, and often with a single red rose, when there was a birth or a birthday, a death or an illness, a need for comfort, or an opportunity for shared celebration.

She is survived by two sons Mark and Matthew (Violeta) Lewis all of Parkersburg; stepson Paul Keck of Florida; two grandsons James and Marko Lewis; sister Martha (Michael) Rowan of San Diego, CA. brother Donald Miller of Danville, WV; and a host of much-loved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband James Lewis; second husband Dr. John W. Keck; two brothers Gene D. and Glenn Miller; and sister Eleanor F. Sipple.

Services will be Friday 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Kurt Busiek and Rev. David Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

In light of her lifelong dedication to the church and to the welfare of others, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her memory to the benevolence fund at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
