Jeremy Scott Rhodes

Jeremy Scott Rhodes, 47, St. Marys, WV, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at home from complications of cancer. Born in Ripley, WV, on October 15, 1978, he was the son of Linda Lou Randolph Rhodes and the late Rodney Leon Rhodes. He was a 1997 graduate of Sheldon Clark High School and a two-time Kentucky State Wrestling Champion. Jeremy went on to graduate from Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, where he also was an All-American NCAA wrestling champion.

In 2007, he was the Valedictorian of the 131st Basic Police Class and later served as a Lieutenant with the Pleasants County Sheriff’s Office. He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church.

An accomplished endurance athlete, as a multi-marathon runner and finisher, completing the Boston Marathon twice, as well as the Jacksonville and Indianapolis Marathons. He was a foster father to twelve children and a loving father of four.

Jeremy was deeply committed to mentoring youth, serving as an assistant coach in wrestling, cross country, and track for Pleasants County Schools. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors other than his mother include his wife of 20 years, Miranda Hoffman Rhodes; four children, Kaitlynn Denae (Christopher) Mastrorocco, Jeremy Brian Rhodes, Elaina Grace Rhodes, and Ayden Scott Rhodes; two brothers, Rodney Shawn (Tracy) Rhodes, and Steven Adam (Laura) Rhodes; sister, Carrie Jean (Titus) Phalen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and first wife, Katherine Elaine Maynard Rhodes.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Pastor Chris Tagliarini officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, WV. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday and 12 to 1 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
