Donald “Don” B. Kinchloe

Donald “Don” B. Kinchloe, 102, of Parkersburg, WV, died Wednesday January 21, 2026, at his residence. Don was born in Vienna, WV, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Pettit Kinchloe on June 26,1923.

He graduated from Parkersburg High School in June, 1941 and Xavier University in 1950. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy from June 1941 through November 1945. He served in the Panama Canal Zone-West Bank and in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations aboard the USS Merrimack. He received the Asiatic/Pacific ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation ribbon and the Asian Occupation (Japan) ribbon. Don retired from DuPont in 1985 and was a member of St. Margaret Mary church where he was an usher. He also assisted in the parish food pantry and delivered Meals-on-Wheels for a number of years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers John, James, Maurice and William and sisters Wauneta Smith and Laholma McClanahan.

He is survived by his niece Ann S. Beecher and her husband Mark of Parkersburg. He is also survived by his great nephew Brandon W. Simmons who has been living with him for the last seven years as Don’s companion and caretaker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Sebastian Devasya as celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 PM.
