Charles E. “Gene” Davis

Charles E. “Gene” Davis, 87, of Waverly, WV, passed away January 3, 2026.

He was born December 1, 1938, in Parkersburg the son of the late Cecil R. and Mary J. Mellinger Davis.

He was a 1958 graduate of Parkersburg High School and had retired from Johns Manville where he worked as an Electrician. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Timothy Davis (Tina) and Melissa Haught (Lou); His grandchildren, Britany, T. J. and Tia and his great grandchildren, Logan, Addison, Andy, Paige and Wren and one sister, Janet Byrn as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy E. Davis; His son, Charles E. Davis Jr. His grandson, Travis Davis; His brothers, Robert and Donzel Davis and one sister, Sandy Summers.

The family wishes to thank The Belmont Healthcare Staff and Hospice especially Nurse Amber R.N.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. A private graveside service will follow at the Herndon Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00pm -8:00 pm and Thursday from 11:00am until service time.

Now that Charles has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Charles’ physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. His mission on Earth is fulfilled.
