Ruth Ann Lamp Carpenter

Ruth Ann Lamp Carpenter, 86, St. Marys, wife of Thomas “Tom” G. Carpenter for 53+ years, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

Born on June 22, 1939, in Pleasants County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Brady and Bernice Hooper Lamp.

Ruth Ann was a graduate of St. Marys High School with the Class of 1958 and a retired Maintenance Secretary for the Pleasants County Board of Education. She had a fondness for the Ohio River and loved spending time on the boat with her family. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, canning and baking cakes. Some of her proudest moments were spent supporting her children and grandchildren in their academic and athletic endeavors.

She is survived by her two daughters, Liz (Marshall Lamp) Carpenter and Jennifer (Rick) Hupp; three grandchildren, Tabatha (Andrea) Efaw, Erika (Chris) Lewis and Dylan (Mary) Hupp; four great-grandchildren, Liam Guns, Greyson Efaw, Evelyn and Matilda Lewis; one brother, Jim Lamp; one sister, Pat Nichols; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings Virginia Wallace, Betty Metheny, and Brady Lamp Jr.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.V., with Pastor Rex Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys.
