Robert Lewis “Bobby” Layne
Robert Lewis “Bobby” Layne, aged 80, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family and loyal friends.
Born on April 14, 1945, in Huntington, WV, Bobby’s life was a testament to his enduring kindness, humor, and generosity. Bobby graduated from Huntington East High School and served proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. After his military service, Bobby dedicated over 30 years to the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, Local 80. He worked proudly as an insulator and was honored to serve an elected term as business manager and apprenticeship coordinator. He also enjoyed painting, music, and singing. Those who knew Bobby will remember a man who is funny, friendly, and generous. His family will forever remember his playful ways and his selfless and unwavering dedication. Bobby was a member of the VFW, charter member of the Blennerhassett Lions Club, youth baseball coach, and Cub Scout troop leader.
Bobby’s love for his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann McCallister Layne, was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that included their son, Robert “Michael” Layne and his wife Gretchen, and their daughter, Susan Fourman and her husband Steve. Bobby’s legacy continues through his five adoring grandchildren, Sabrina (fiance Robbie), Tanner, Alanis, Alexander, and Anslee, who will miss their grandfatherás humor and unconditional support. He is survived by his siblings, Walter Layne (Becky) of Barboursville, WV and Mary Jane (Forrest) Osborne, of Ocala, Fl.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Lewis and Mary Francis Lykins Layne, his sister, Elizabeth Franzone, and his brother, Arnold Lee Layne.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
