Patricia Jean Gateman

Patricia Jean Gateman, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on Hilton Head Island on December 4.

The daughter of Major and Gwendolyn Ward, Pat was born and raised in Parkersburg, spending her first 85 years there, building a life centered on family, friends, and deep community roots. In her later years she relocated to Michigan to be closer to family, and ultimately made her home on Hilton Head, where she enjoyed a quiet and comfortable life.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Gateman (Lisa) and her daughter Jill. She also leaves behind three grandsons–Jason Bullock (Cindy), Salvatore Bancheri, and Patrick Bancheri–as well as two great-granddaughters, Marielle and Caroline Bullock, all of whom brought her great joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Beth Harvey and her brother Carl Ward.

Pat loved well and was well-loved. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
