Kelly Ann (Detamore) Collins
Kelly Ann (Detamore) Collins, 57, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away on December 20, 2025. Kelly was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her peaceful departure from this life to the next.
Kelly was an inspiration to those who met her. As a teenager, Kelly was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, yet she remained a strong and determined woman who never allowed it to hold her back. She lived life to the fullest and embraced every moment. Kelly loved her God, her family, and every person she met–especially children. She always wore a smile and had a way of lighting up every room she entered.
Kelly enjoyed adventure and lived boldly, taking part in experiences such as skydiving, scuba diving, and white-water rafting. Although she was advised against having children, she was blessed with two beautiful, healthy daughters, who later blessed her with six grandchildren–whom she considered her greatest joy.
Her love for children extended beyond her family. Kelly volunteered with the AWANA program at her church, served as the leader of the Fairview 4-H Club, and was the Pretty Baby Coordinator at the West Virginia Interstate Fair.
Kelly is survived by her husband of 37 years, Allen “Russ” Collins; her daughters, Tara Swiger (Jordan) and Kyla Conger (Sean); and her six grandchildren, Josiah Swiger, Jaxson Swiger, Jansen Swiger, Caleb Conger, Jentre Swiger, and Bailiegh Conger, all of Parkersburg. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn (Detamore) Keller (Rick); her father, Charlie Detamore (Linda); her sister, Christina Smith (Tim); her brother, Jeremy Detamore; nieces Olivia Townsend (Darren), Regan Detamore (Jacob), and Anna Smith; her nephew, Garett Detamore (Makinley); and great nephew Kaiser Detamore. There are also so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members that survive Kelly and will miss her greatly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors who cared for Kelly throughout her life. Their compassion and dedication meant so much to Kelly and her family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church. Doors will open at 10 am, and the service will begin at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kelly Collins Memorial Fund at Peoples Bank, which will sponsor church camp scholarships, 4-H camp scholarships and fair events for children.
