Jack Lang Mason
Jack Lang Mason, beloved father and grandfather, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at age 92. He was born November 22, 1933, in New Martinsville, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Jean, on September 10, 2025, and his parents Raema (Lang) and A. Lane Mason.
Jack graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1951 where he played Big Red basketball and sang in the A Cappella Choir under Esther Cunningham. After graduation, the family moved to Bainbridge, Ohio, where he met and married the love of his life, Jean Stanley. Together they raised six children. In the early years, Jack worked for his father at the Mason Lumber Company. He then moved into industry where much of his career was spent at the Goodyear Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio. The family ultimately moved to Belpre where he finished his industry career at Shell Chemical Company. Following retirement, he built and operated Frostee Shoppes in Belpre, Coolville and Piketon, Ohio.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and trapper with duck hunting being his favorite sport for many years. More recently, he maintained a hunting cabin and farm near Bartlett, Ohio where he enjoyed good times with family and friends. He was active as a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and a faithful member of St Marks United Methodist Church in Belpre where he sang in the choir and served on several committees.
Jack is survived by his six children: Jacki (Lawrence) Ronning of North Canton, Ohio, Jami (Tom) Dishman of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joni (Gary) Fornnarino of Westerville, Ohio, Jeff (Deanna) Mason of Belpre, Ohio, Juli (Tony) Shutts of New Albany, Ohio, and Joy (Eric) Cunningham of Coolville, Ohio. In addition, he leaves 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren all of whom will miss “Tataw Jack”. The family would like to express special appreciation to Jack’s caregivers–Kay, Tracie and Brianna.
