Dr. Dale E. Hunt

Dr. Dale E. Hunt, of Atlanta, GA, died December 17, 2025. He was born in Parkersburg, WV, December 19, 1931, a son of the late Aden E. and Inez Swain Hunt.

He was graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1950, and subsequently from Glenville State College, Case Western Reserve University, and the University of Rhode Island. He was selected to appear in Outstanding Young Men of America, Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, Who’s Who Among American Men and Women of Science, International Directory of Scholars, and Who’s Who in the South. He was elected to the Tri Beta National Honorary Biological Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honorary Scholastic Society, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, and was a past member of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, American Society for Microbiology, and past president of the Southeastern Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. He was an author of 89 scientific publications appearing in scientific journals and books of Canada, England, Germany, and the United States.

Dr. Hunt served on the faculty at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, AL and was Professor Emeritus from Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta, GA.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with the 7th Infantry Division. He was decorated with a Bronze Star Valor award for action on Pork Chop Hill in July 1953.

He is survived by one daughter, Maia Karlsen, Atlanta, GA; one son, Stanley Hunt, Green Cove Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dr. Jessica Karoliszyn Hunt, whom he married June 20, 1959; one son, Rommel E. Hunt; a brother, Ural; and a sister, Faye Stethem.

A family memorial will be observed at a later date.
