Dessie Lou Romine

Dessie Lou Romine, 83, of Parkersburg passed away December 23, 2025.

She was born in Parkersburg on February 22, 1942, the daughter of the late Raymond Nelson and Alma Bernice Bower Thomas.

Dessie had worked as a Bookkeeper for H. James Province C.P.A. and was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

She was very active through the years with Wood Co. 4-H and was a member of the 4-H Allstars and Leaders. She loved to cook and had exceptional talent with crafts, enjoying basket weaving, restoring furniture, candle making, sewing and enjoyed being the “neighborhood mom” to many 4-H and neighborhood children.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Renae Gainer (Chuck) of Parkersburg; Her son in law, Jeff Townsend of Parkersburg; Her grandchildren, Justin Townsend and Jessie Lamp (Aaron) of Parkersburg, Christine Daugherty (Devin Bell) of Columbus, OH, and Cara Gainer of Parkersburg. Her great grandchildren, Bowen and Laurel Lamp. Her sister, Jessie Allen (Darrell) of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus W. “Will” Romine in 2022; Her daughter, Sherri L. Townsend in 2016; Her siblings Virgil Thomas, Clare Thomas, Lawrence Thomas, Russell Thomas, Richard Thomas and Clarence Vernon Thomas.

Due to extenuating family circumstances there will be no public visitation. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Aaron Lamp officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks the memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, P.O. Box 254 Mineral Wells, WV 26150.
