Carolyn Sue (Gilbert) McCuskey

Carolyn Sue (Gilbert) McCuskey, 78, of Dove Creek, CO, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, CO, on December 23, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born October 1, 1947, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Mavadell (Perrine) and Clarence W. Gilbert. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1965 and later from Parkersburg Beauty School. She worked in the field, as well as a real estate agent.

She met her husband David in 1981 when he was in Parkersburg visiting his family. She moved to Las Vegas where she became a sales rep for Mead Paper Company. They were married October 15, 1983, in Las Vegas,where David was a resident. They were there until 1999 when they moved to Dove Creek, CO.

She worked for the county extension office until she opened and operated her beauty salon, “The Best Li’l Hair House” which later became “In Style Hair Salon”, until her retirement in 2023. She was on the library board and the clerk at the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and loved her God. Carolyn always had a smile and a kind word for all those she knew and met. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 42 years, David “Dave” McCuskey of Dove Creek, brothers Ronald W. Gilbert, Parkersburg, WV, Stephen L. (Charlotte) Gilbert, Washington, WV, sister Ann Chenoweth, Parkersburg, WV, a niece, several nephews and cousins, and their children that she loved.
