Ray Harold Peters, 87, of Mineral Wells, passed away November 8, 2025, at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1938, in Parkersburg, a son of the late James L. and Wilma L. (Boso) Peters.
Ray worked at Borg-Warner Chemicals, 1960-1993. While at Borg-Warner, he created an item which was patented and was to be used in the plant. He was master at his craft with building and working with his hands. His masterpieces were many, but his house and little Coke truck are his premier projects. Ray was a "gear-head" and treasured antique vehicles. He was a devoted and industrious family man with a faith that sustained him in his darkest hours and was a member of the church of Christ at Camden Ave. for over 65 years.
Surviving are his children: Nathan R. Peters (Jennifer) of Mineral Wells and Rebecca R. Brock (Gene) of Berkeley Springs, WV, sisters: Sue Hardwick of Wilmington, NC and Carol Peters of Parkersburg, granddaughter Jaclyn Varner (Mike) of Mineral Wells, great grandson Wesson Varner and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his dear and loving first wife of 32 years, Mary Moore Peters in 1990, second wife Sheila Holland, brothers: James R., Randall and Mark Steven "Butch" Peters, sister Kathy Simmons and an infant son.
Memorial service and a Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rick Stanley officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be one hour prior to services. Following cremation, Ray's remains will be buried beside his forever love, Mary in the Hopewell Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
