Leroy McCray
Leroy McCray
Leroy McCray, 93, of Parkersburg, passed peacefully at home on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born in Elkins, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Emily McCray.
Leroy proudly joined the United States Armed Forces in 1952 and served as a combat veteran in the Korean War. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 30 years to Vitro Agate, where he retired as a production manager. He was known for his steady work ethic, quiet strength, and the kind of reliability people could build their lives around.
He is survived by his best friend and lifelong companion, Jean McCray, and his loyal dog, Abby, who rarely left his side. He is also survived by his children, Gerald (Cathy) McCray and Ronda Pryor; nephews who were like sons to him, Greg (Jodi) McCray, Jeff (Misty) McCray, and Brian McCray; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.
Leroy’s love reached far beyond traditional family lines.
He will be dearly missed by his grand-nieces, Erica (Casey) Deem, Jessica (Lenny) Nelson, and Ashley (Trent) McCray, and their families, who loved and looked up to him as Uncle P.
The bond they shared was built on years of love and respect–a quiet reminder that family isn’t only who you’re born to, but who you grow to love along the way.
Though his chair may be empty, his spirit will forever sit among those he loved most.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
