Kelly Marie Hayhurst Amos

Kelly Marie Hayhurst Amos, of Auburn, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the residence of her parents in Pennsboro, WV.

Kelly was born in Parkersburg, WV, on April 27, 1972, the daughter of Evelyn Ann (Kelly) and Nelson B. Hayhurst.

A proud graduate of Ritchie County High School with the class of 1990, Kelly was a member of the Rebel volleyball and softball teams. She was also a member of the Rebel band where she served as majorette. She was also a member of the Pennsboro Morning Star 4-H club and chartered her senior year. While in high school Kelly was involved in several clubs and organizations.

Kelly was a graduate of Fairmont State College where she was a member of the volleyball team. After college she was hired as the Head Volleyball coach at Fairmont West High School where she led the Polar Bears to their first state playoffs in 15 years. She worked for the WV Dept. of Human Services since 2002 as an Economic Service Supervisor.

She enjoyed camping, swimming, the beach, social events, playing cards and back porch gossip and she loved animals. She was a member of Ritchie Unity Chapter #163 Order of Eastern Star and Pennsboro Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Roger James Amos, Jr.; daughter, Eliza Mae Amos; her parents; sister, Pam Hayhurst of Pennsboro; brother Mark Hayhurst (Tara) of Pennsboro; mother-in-law Loretta Grimm of Auburn; several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Areletta Elder (Michael).

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Raiguel Funeral Home with Pastors Don Maxson and Dan Maxson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the Ritchie County Humane Society, 2220 Pullman Rd., Harrisville, WV 26362.
