James “Jim” Edward Boyer
James “Jim” Edward Boyer, 70, of Vienna, WV, went to his heavenly home on November 24, 2025, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark.
He was born January 5, 1955, in Newark, Ohio, to Lakie Travis Boyer Dawson Stephens and Calvin Clayton Boyer and was raised by his stepdad, Clarence Dawson.
Jim was a Christian by faith and enjoyed listening to BBN radio and TBN, especially Joel Osteen. He really enjoyed playing poker with family and loved bowling before his stroke. He liked playing cards and bingo. He enjoyed watching Ohio State and WV football.
Even though Jim faced many health challenges, he never complained and always had a positive attitude. He loved to work and was able to maintain 20 years with Wood County Board of Education as a custodian before permanent disability in 1997. Jim had a kind and beautiful soul. He was a great loving husband.
He is survived by the love of his life, Janis Lowers Boyer; his two fur babies, Oreo, Olivia; sister, Dorothy (Frank) Smith of Davisville, WV; in-laws, Steven Lowers of Marietta, OH, Diana (Robert) Hovey of Braselton, GA, Michael Lowers (Karla) of Walker, WV, Mark (Lori) Lowers of Florida; Carol Lowers Sprouse of Parkersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Nancy (Carson) Boyce; two brothers, William (Bessie) Boyer and Calvin (Lenoma) Boyer; stepdad, Ira Stephans; in-laws, Ronald and Donna Lowers; fur baby, Milo.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU and ACU units at Camden Clark Hospital, for their exceptional and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Friday November 28, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
