Ralph Fred Welden Jr.

Ralph Fred Welden Jr., 83, of Vienna, WV, passed away Sept. 28, 2025, due to complications resulting from a fall in February.

Ralph was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Vienna, the son of the late Ralph Fred Welden Sr. and Emma Belle Haney Welden.

He was a 1959 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where, in the 10th grade, he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. Following high school, Ralph proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Independence and then began a career with E.I. Dupont, from which he retired after 37 years. Ralph was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and four wheeling with his friends. He created many memories supporting and coaching sports (hockey, football, baseball, & softball) with the Vienna Recreation League and was a lifelong WVU Mountaineer and Parkersburg Big Red Fan.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Joan Conger Welden; his children, Todd Brian Welden (Geeta) and Mollie Lou Kleffman (Eric); and his grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Belle and Jill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pat Beebe and Diane Neal.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4 at Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna, WV, where Ralph was a 50+ year member. The visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wayside United Methodist Church are appreciated.
