Melvin Eugene Dowler

Melvin Eugene Dowler, 71, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Oct. 3, 2025, at the Willows Center.

He was born June 16, 1954, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late James Dowler and Ruth Friend Dowler.

Melvin was a security guard for West Virginia Medicine Camden Clark for 20 years. He took great pride in his work and was well respected by his coworkers. In his free time, he enjoyed restoring old cars and took joy in bringing them back to life.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his sisters, Marilyn Kay Sprouse, Connie Braniff, Brenda Walker, Tina Morehead, Tammy Dowler; and special niece, Missy Dowler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Kenny and Rick and one sister, Patsey.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Janet Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
