Janet Carol Dever, 89, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025.

She was born on May 31, 1936, in Cambridge, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest and Bernice (Fogle) Todd.

Janet was a 1953 graduate of Byesville High School and went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University. Teaching and learning were lifelong passions of hers, and she shared her love of education with countless young minds throughout her life.

A devoted member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church since 1960, Janet’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She served faithfully in countless ways – through prayer, service, volunteer work and quiet acts of kindness that touched many hearts. Creating a warm and loving home for her family brought her deep happiness. She loved her family and cherished every moment together. She found great joy in her friends, church community and in the simple pleasures of life – walking, gardening, reading, travel and sewing. Her legacy of faith, love and service will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: infant Dorothy May Todd, Marjorie Walters (Richard), and Deloris Heady (David).

Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, David Dever, whom she married in 1956. She is also survived by their four children: Debbie Noe (Stephen), Beth Robertson (Jim), Todd Dever (Karen), and Scott Dever (Beth); seven grandchildren:

Sarah Hill (Paul), Bryant Fanning, Kara Robertson, Kristin Robertson, Michael Robertson, Stefanie Torres (Diego), and Evan Dever; and three great-grandchildren: Kendall Hill, Audrey Hill, and Sofia Torres.
