Carolyn Sue Calhoun of Parkersburg departed this life on Oct. 2, 2025. She was born Oct. 28, 1942, daughter of the late Ernest Franklin Calhoun and Ethel Virginia Stephens Calhoun. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen E. Calhoun.
Carolyn was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Mountain State Business College, and Parkersburg Community College. She was employed for 38 years at the former Commercial Bank, where she served as a Vice President. She later worked part-time at WesBanco Bank in Parkersburg for three years and at Pleasants County Bank of St. Marys for 16 years.
She was a member of Alpha Iota Sorority and Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Rachel Circle and sang in the choir. Carolyn had a passion for painting and found great joy in expressing her creativity through art. She cherished family vacations filled with laughter, love, and late-night puzzles, and she delighted in traveling with friends, creating cherished memories on their many adventures together.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Debra S. Calhoun; two nephews, Nathaniel Lee Calhoun and his wife Jaymie, and Jerrad A. Calhoun and his wife Deidra; a great-nephew, Tanner Calhoun; and four great-nieces, Haven Calhoun, Reghan Calhoun, Kenadi Calhoun, and Anniston Calhoun.
Services will be Thursday 2 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday 12-2 p.m.
