Rosemarie Fought, 82, of Washington, WV, passed away Aug 29, 2025. Her wit, charm, and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Rosemarie was born on July 28, 1943 in Berlin, Germany and was the daughter of the late Margaret (Oswald) and Walter Hanisch. She came to the United States in 1965 and was married to Warren Burns until his passing in 1985. Rosemarie remarried in 1989 to Ronald Fought who passed away in 2022. Rose worked at the The Diamond department store, The Donut Castle as part owner, and K mart where she retired. Rose was a member of the German Women’s Club. Rose is survived by her 3 children Bettina Butler, John (Teresa) Burns, and Warren Burns; half sister Barbara Jost- Waldheim in Germany; grand children Emily, Quinton, and Hannah Butler; great grandchildren Nolan, Izzy, and Zara; step children Mary Fought, Donald (Lisa) Fought, Debra (Dave) Erb, Cindy Walburn, and Julie Fought; sisters-in-law Brenda (Tom) Huffman, Linda (Dan) Matteo, Janet (Robert) Powell, Judy (Basil) McClung; brother-in-law Butch (Delores) Burns and several great step children. In addition to her parents and husbands, Rose was preceded in death by her sister Hannelore; sister in law Joyce Doss and brother in law Don Burns. Rose will be cremated per her request. On Oct. 4, 2025, there will be a private ceremony at Evergreen Memorial Gardens followed by a celebration of life ceremony at noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Broad Street for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
