Mary Roann Wojcik

Mary Roann Wojcik, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully September 10, 2025, at her residence.

She was born December 8, 1941, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Roy and Sarah (Stinger) Burris.

Roann graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University and began her career as a teacher at St. Michaels grade school in Wheeling until she started her family in 1968. Roann and Allen moved several times due to his career, from Wheeling to Liverpool, NY where they raised their children then returning to WV where they lived in Teays Valley, and then finally to Parkersburg. Throughout all of the moves Roann’s motto was always “Bloom Where You Are Planted”.

Faith and family were Roann’s top priorities. She devoted much of her time to church related activities including teaching religious education, sponsoring RCIA candidates, and Bible studies. Additionally, she had several hobbies including ballroom dancing, bird watching, and making friends wherever she went.

Roann enjoyed being involved with the North Hills Garden Club. She served as the club’s president for many years.

Surviving is her son, Douglas Wojcik and wife Brenda of Manlius, NY; daughter Susan Wojcik of Fayetteville, NY; two grandchildren, Devin (Brittany) Wojcik of Brighton, MI and Sophia Wojcik of Manlius, NY; two great grandchildren Noah and Levi; sister Karen Kelly (Jim) of Wheeling; brother Randy Burris (Mary) of Wheeling; sister-in-law Rita Wolen of Pittsburgh, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years Allen E. Wojcik in 2008.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Monday at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg with Reverend John Gallagher officiating. Interment service will be 2 pm at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with a Christian wake service at 5 pm.
