Karen L. Mathers

Karen Lou Mathers, 78, of Raleigh, NC (formerly of Parkersburg, WV), passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family.

She was the youngest of five daughters of Kelmer Wheeler (K.W.) and Dessie Opal Fox.

Karen was a graduate of Harrisville High School and had worked at Broida’s, Stone and Thomas and retired from Wood County Bank (now Huntington Banks). She was a faithful member of Vienna Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelmer Wheeler (K.W.) and Dessie Opal Fox and sisters and brothers-in-law: Leona (Herman) Mills, Alice (Rev. William) Snider, and Shirley (Dennis) Cooper.

Surviving is her husband of 61 years, John David Mathers (Raleigh NC); sons Gregory Allen (Kathy) Mathers (Washington WV) and Scott David (Eva) Mathers (Raleigh NC); grandchildren: Lydia, Grace, Hayden, Della, Luke Mathers, Rachel (Zach) Rogers; one sister, Patricia Rose (Edward) Baker and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Per her request, there will be no service at this time.
