Jean Marilyn Mason
Jean Marilyn Mason, beloved wife and mother, age 90, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away at home on September 10, 2025. She was born May 23, 1935, in Clinton County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Louise (Draise) and Eugene Stanley.
Jean attended Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ohio, where she excelled in track and was a cheerleader. A beautiful young woman, Jean was crowned Miss Bainbridge as part of the Miss Ohio pageant. In 1952, she married her sweetheart, Jack Mason. Together, they raised a family of six children. Jean was always involved in her children’s lives-Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader, band parent and team supporter. She spent many hours in the family kitchen teaching her children to cook, bake and clean up. She used those skills to co-manage the first Frostee Shoppe in Belpre along with later locations in Piketon, Little Hocking and, again, in Belpre.
Jean was an active and loyal member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Belpre. She served on many committees and was a member of the Mary Circle.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Jack, along with her six children: Jacki (Lawrence) Ronning of North Canton, Ohio, Jami (Tom) Dishman of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joni (Gary) Fornnarino of Westerville, Ohio, Jeff (Deanna) Mason of Belpre, Ohio, Juli (Tony) Shutts of New Albany, Ohio, and Joy (Eric) Cunningham of Coolville, Ohio. In addition, she leaves 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren all of whom loved their “Nanaw Jeanie.” The family would also like to express special appreciation to Jean’s caregivers-Kay, Tracie and Brianna.
Visitors will be received from 12-2PM on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Leavitt Funeral Home, 801 Victor St., in Belpre followed by a short service. Immediately after the service there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall at St Mark’s United Methodist Church, 302 3rd St , Belpre.
