Jay “The Byrd” Davis

Jay “The Byrd” Davis, 68, of Parkersburg, is now ‘somewhere over the rainbow,’ a place of peace, and beauty that mirrors his spirit, his dreams, and the love he leaves behind. He was born Jan. 27,1957, in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late Aloysius L. Davis Jr. and Frances Davis (Amiss). Jay was a graduate of PHS, and often spoke about the good ole days as a Parkersburg Big Red football player. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 13 years, and he achieved an undergraduate degree in political science while serving. Jay retired as a Railroad Engineer from CSX-T after 10 years. Jay is survived by his wife of 41 years Wazetta Elaine Davis (Latham); Two daughters, his favorite oldest daughter, Natasha Marie Davis Moore (Gerard) of Fayetteville, NC, and his favorite youngest daughter, Crystal “Domonic” Davis of Parkersburg, WV. A favorite oldest granddaughter, Skylar “Momo” Cross of Parkersburg, WV, and favorite youngest granddaughter Gianna Moore of Fayetteville, NC; his eldest brother Aloysius “Scoop” Davis III, MD (companion Debbie Wingrove) of Easthampton, MA, sister-in-law Joan Davis, niece Misty Davis, nephew AJ Davis, and great nieces Jacy Davis and Destiny Davis, all of Parkersburg, WV.In addition to his parents he was in preceded in death by his brother Cecil “Archie” Davis. Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at 12-2 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 Seventh Street, Parkersburg, WV. A military Burial Service will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Parkersburg.
