Jack L. McDonald

Jack L. McDonald, 93 of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

He was born on July 8, 1932, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Virgil H. and Virginia McDonald. Jack graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1951 and went on to build a long and dedicated career at E.I. Dupont, retiring in 1989 after more than 30 years of service.

For more than six decades, Jack was a proud Mason, affiliated with Parkersburg Lodge 169, and an active member of the Nemesis Shrine and its Motor Corp. He was also a devoted member of both South Parkersburg and Vienna Baptist Church, where he faithfully lived out his Christian values.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carol June (Greathouse) McDonald; his brother, Virgil McDonald Jr.; and his son-in-law, Jerry Alawat.

He is survived by his children: Danny (Helen) McDonald, Debbie Alawat, Doug McDonald, and Denise (Steve) Spanelli; his sister, Carla Stoops; grandchildren: Jason (Lindsay) Hayes, Amanda (Jason) Deem, Danette (Justin) Stutler, Kerri (John) Hofmann, Kristi (Mark) Moser, Matthew (Jessica) McDonald, Emily (Chad) Bryan, Shelly Sharp, Missy Wedenoja, Andrea Alawat Rittgers, and Mica Krigbaum; and 20 great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, from 4-8 p.m. at South Parkersburg Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, at South Parkersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Adam Paff officiating.

Jack’s Life was one marked by devotion to his family, his church, and his community. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
