Helen Forshey

Helen Irene Forshey, 80, of Waverly, passed away Sept. 4, 2025, at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born Sept. 14, 1944, a daughter to the late Ira and Genevieve Wright (Mace).

Helen loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them regularly, loving her “Volcano Days.” She was a skilled cook and was always seen canning and preparing meals for her family. She loved her job at Backroads Pizza, and was an Elder at Herndon Community Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Surviving Helen are her children Tina Rager (Phil), Jimmie Forshey (Beatrice), Rodney Forshey (Krista) and Tony Forshey; sister Fern Halderman and Alice Burk, whom she read the Bible with every night; brothers Robert Wright, Denzil Lon Wright (Darlene) and Denver Jon Wright; 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James P. Forshey; siblings Mary Griener, Richard Wright, and Ira David Wright; and her son Donald Forshey.

A funeral service for Helen will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, Pastor Norman Orr officiating. Visitation will be held Monday the 8th from 2-4 p.m., and again from 6-8 p.m. Burial will follow the Tuesday service at Shiloh Cemetery.
