Gary W. Tuttle Sr.

Gary W. Tuttle Sr., 77, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 27, 1948, the son of the late Joseph C. Tuttle and Juanita M. (Miller) Tuttle. Gary was a kind and compassionate man, known for his deep love of people, music, and his country. Above all, he cherished his children and family. Always ready to lend a hand, Gary lived a life of generosity and service. A talented musician, Gary’s band, The Country Club, played at numerous benefits and regularly visited assisted living and nursing homes to bring joy through music. He was also a proud member of The Cornhole Cruisers and enjoyed participating in car shows. Gary was a faithful member of George Street Church of Christ in St. Marys, West Virginia.

Professionally, Gary was the owner of GT Properties LLC and GT Construction. He was a skilled builder, brick mason, and heavy equipment operator. He graduated from Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Arizona, Class of 1966, and spent much of his youth in Arizona, where he owned a beloved property known as “The Cactus Patch”–his home away from home. Gary was deeply respected and loved by many–friends, business associates, music fans, and especially his family.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; and by the children of his first marriage: Michael (Terri), Laurie (James) Simmons, Gary Jr. (Shannon), and Richard (Carla). He is also survived by his first wife, Beverly. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Elizabeth (d. 2018).

Gary is also survived by stepchildren from his second wife: Julia (Jamie) Hunt and Jamie Hackathorn; and from his third wife: John M. (Elaine) Nichols and Jeff (Becky) Nichols.

He leaves behind five sisters and one brother: Linda (Steve) Poynter, Jennifer (Jerry) Morris, Deborah (Randy) Cain, Jackie (Dennis) Schofield, Joseph Jr. (Shelly) Tuttle, and Bobby Jo (Ron) Cokeley.

Gary’s legacy lives on through his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral service will be 1:00 Friday, September 19, 2025 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Rob Fraser and Danny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys, WV.
