Betty J. McLain, 89, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and dedicated nurse passed away peacefully at Harmar Place on 9/2/2025.

Born in Parkersburg, WV on 12/18/1935 to the late Earl and Mary Bee. A proud compassionate caregiver Betty dedicated her life to helping others. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital, where she met her husband of 55 years, the late Jack McLain while caring for his mother Letha McLain. She later went on to work at the Kaiser Aluminum plant before concluding her professional life at the Bureau of Public Debt.

Betty will be remembered for her kind heart, tireless work ethic, and her devotion to her family.

Betty is survived by her four children Scott McLain, Stan McLain (Laura), Steve McLain and Sherri Tanner. She also leaves behind her grandson Ryan McLain (Jocelyn). Sisters Dorothy Leisure, Pam Russell (Rick), Patty Davis (Charlie) and one brother Randy Bee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Market Street, in Parkersburg, with Father John Rice as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, OH.
