Ronald “Ronnie” Dean McFarland Sr.

Ronald “Ronnie” Dean McFarland Sr. passed away July 29, 2025. He was born Oct. 9, 1942, to parents William Edward and Genevieve McFarland. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1960. Ronnie worked over 30 years for Hope Gas Company, and served his community as a volunteer firefighter and emergency squad driver.

He absolutely adored his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Sue Rea. Not a moment went by without Ronnie reminding her of his love and adoration for her. He also loved his children and grandchildren, taking great pride in their successes and characters. He would always be sure to remind Sue of the fine children and grandchildren they had.

Above all, Ronnie was a family man, making his home a hub of activity for his children, his grandchildren, and any other friend or family member that walked through the door.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; His daughter, Melinda McFarland Krieg, and her husband Michael Krieg of Grand Junction, Colorado. His son, Ronnie McFarland Jr., and his wife Susan Smith of St. Mary’s, WV. His grandchildren, Travis Robertson, Maggie Robertson, Taylar McFarland, Grace McFarland, and Ryan McFarland. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim McFarland and Carol Wheaton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Bob McFarland.

No service or visitation is planned at his time. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later time. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
