Ralph Russell Dexter

Ralph Russell Dexter, 85, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 27, 1940, in Little Hocking, Ohio, Ralph was the beloved son of the late Russell and Wilda “Billie” (Reynolds) Dexter.

He graduated from Belpre High School and soon after embarked on a career that would span more than three decades. In 1961, Ralph became one of the first employees at Shell Chemical, where he dedicated 35 years of service before retiring in 1996. His work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting imprint on all who worked alongside him.

Ralph was a devoted husband to Regina Ann (Burdette) Dexter, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage filled with love and mutual respect. He is also survived by his children, Dr. Jeffrey Dexter (Holly) of Marietta, OH, Robin Ambrozy (John) of Belpre, OH, step-son David Romine (Pam), and step-daughter Michelle West (Matt). Ralph’s legacy continued through his nine grandchildren, Carli Dexter, Evan Dexter (Kendall), Clayton Dexter, Daniel Ambrozy (Carrie), Julia Miller (Zachary), Zack Romine (Staci), Luke West, Gabrielle West, and Silas West, and two great-grandchildren, Saylor and Kinley, who will forever cherish their memories with him.

A man of faith, Ralph was a proud member of City Bible Church, where he lived his Christian values through acts of service and fellowship. His interest in dog training earned him the affectionate nickname of the “Dog Whisperer” within his family. He was an avid Marshall University and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Ralph was known to fix anything and everything for anyone.

Services will be Saturday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Luke Easter officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 4-7 PM and Saturday one hour prior to the service.
