Patsy Jane Napier

Patsy Jane Napier, 96, passed away Aug. 18, 2025. Born Sept. 15, 1928, in Wise, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Walker Gilliam and Martha Jane Freeman.

She had attended West Virginia Business College in Bluefield, WV. She loved her church and was a member of the Wayside Methodist Church and the Vienna Women’s Club. She took pride in her home, loved to play bridge and enjoyed shopping (could be found at the Grand Central Mall every Friday) with her special friends. A classy lady and such a people person. Her laughter will definitely be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl Franklin Napier, her sister Betty Jo Byrd and son-in-law Dayton James Bussey Jr (Jim). Survivors include her only daughter, Carla Lee Bussey of Vienna, WV, one grandson, Jason Scott Bussey (Stephanie) of Beckley, WV along with two great granddaughters Emma and Ella whom she loved so much and they affectionately called her Nanny-Pat. She is also survived by one nephew Rodney Conley, three nieces: Billie Sue Canter, Martha Byrd Bidal (Bill) and Rhonda Conley Finley (Mike).

Dr. John Beane was her doctor for many years and she wanted to give him a special “Thank You” for taking excellent care of her and for being such a dedicated and compassionate doctor. Another big “Thank You” to Belpre Landing Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation and Buckeye Hospice and Palliative Care for their comfort and support.

Arrangements are pending. After cremation there will be a private graveside service conducted at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY, in the family plot at the convenience of the family.
