James L. Grogg
James L. Grogg, 78, of Parkersburg, WV, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at WVU Medicine – Camden Clark. He was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Weston, WV, a son of the late Leonard L. and Annabelle (Butcher) Grogg.
He retired in 2010 after thirty-six years at Borg Warner, GE Plastics, and then Sabic. He was a United States Army veteran having served in Germany. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Nemesis Shrine Motorized Unit, Mid-Ohio Valley Shrine ClubParkersburg Moose Lodge 1118, Royal Order of Jesters Court 156, Ben Bey Grotto, American Legion Post 15, and Wirt County Masonic Lodge #82. He enjoyed all the parades and golf outings, but most importantly the fellowship, laughter, and celebrating life.
He is survived by his wife Mary E. (Cox) Grogg (with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16th); sister Patricia Ann Coberly of Buckhannon, WV; brother Donald P. Grogg (Deanna) of Buckhannon; nephew Donald P. “Donnie” Grogg II; several other family members; sisters-in-law Nancy Smith (Ron) of Good Hope, WV and Donna Jones of Elyria; brother-in-law David Cox (Elaine) of North Ridgeville, Ohio; and many other extended family, friends, and neighbors who have become lifelong special friend for two, three, and even four generations.
There will be no visitation or services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
