David Eugene White

David Eugene White, 91, of Vienna, West Virginia, passed away on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 24, 1934, in Richwood, WV, he was the son of the late Merle and Marie White.

David graduated from Richwood High School and went on to attend West Virginia Tech, where he majored in education. His passion for teaching led him to become a science teacher at Franklin Junior High, where he also helped coach the school’s very first football team. After his time at Franklin, he taught at Parkersburg High School, where he taught science and ran the planetarium. Dedicated to lifelong learning, David earned his master’s degree in administration from West Virginia University and later served as the Assistant Superintendent of Wood County Schools.

Beyond his career, David had many passions – he loved golfing, fishing, and hunting, and was a devoted member of Liberty Street Church. He was also a very accomplished artist, creating works that reflected his creativity, attention to detail, and love for beauty.

David shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia White, before her passing. He will be remembered for his dedication to education, his love of the outdoors, his artistic talent, and his unwavering devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by Patricia and his brother Roderick White. He is survived by his devoted daughter Missy Carden and her husband Greg; his cherished granddaughter Katie McGhee and her husband Tyler; his adored great-grandchildren Elena, Elijah, and Arya McGhee; his brother Richard White and wife Billie; along with many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1934 Dupont Rd., Parkersburg, WV 26101, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Frymire officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, WV.
